Convening a Workshop on Economic Alternatives to Prescribed Pile Fires as a Means for Forest Management in New Mexico

We propose a focused workshop to foster discussion and promote research into economic alternatives to prescribed pile burning for beneficial biomass utilization and forest management in NM. The workshop will support the continuation of cultural practices, while also exploring opportunities to produce value-added products within forested community ecosystems. The goals of the workshop will be to identify specific opportunities for research funding and to begin assembling teams and stakeholders for success in pursuing those funding opportunities.
